Shuffle feat. Uru & Ruki [2008.11.14] Translation PART 2

DJ: You were just listening to the GazettE’s recently released new single, LEECH. This time Ruki has written here, ‘paid attention to the development of the song’

Ruki: Yes, yes.

DJ: So, development… Which part of it did you pay attention to?

Ruki: What is it…? I didn’t really… pay that much attention to it… It’s more like… my favourite… my old way of writing songs… Rather than methodically developing, it’s more… roll,roll,roll… like it changes scene by scene. That’s about it, I suppose.

DJ: In just one song, I mean, first it’s really laid back, but then suddenly like a switch’s been turned on, it goes really fast, like ‘GAAAH!’, it goes intense. Seems like there’s a lot of that kind of pattern this time, right?

Ruki: Yeah.

Uru: The songs Ruki makes has a lot of that.

Ruki: Yep.

DJ: Oh, I see. You like that kind of thing? That sense of urgency?

Ruki: Yeah, I suppose. Sure.

DJ: And it must be hard on your singing voice.

Ruki: Well…

DJ: Having to switch tensions (TN: energies?) like that

Ruki: Actually, it becomes rather natural

DJ: Ehhhh

Ruki: And Uruha-san, you wrote ‘Pleasurable Intensity’ here this time.

Uru: Yeah

DJ: Well, what part of it was ‘pleasurable’?

Uru: Yes, I suppose doing it, playing this song is what feels pleasurable. Being able to feel the groove of the band is also pleasurable.

DJ: I see, yes. I’ve also heard rumors that the lyrics of this song are about anger being aimed at a certain figurehead.

Ruki: What’s that, inside information?

DJ: No, no, it’s written here!

Ruki: Oh~ Ohh~ I guess… any song can be like that. I just happened to write what was happening around me in the process of making this song…

DJ: “Hatred to you is a proper act”! It’s appropriate to hate you!

Ruki+Uru: (laughs)

DJ: These are some amazing lyrics! (??? No idea what he said after that ^^

Uru: (laughs)

DJ: But they’re cool lyrics and it’s a memorable number. So, in the regular edition there are 3 songs and it seems as if you guys concentrated on more intense songs. And this time it’s more to songs concentrated for lives, right?

Ruki: Yes, that’s right. It was in the summer and we had our lives…

Uru: Yeah. Leech came around that time and well, even if we had some more mellow songs…

Ruki: Well, normally we’d put different type of songs in, but this time we decided to do this instead.

Uru: While we were composing songs, we had them centered on this one theme and everyone sort of made songs according to that (central theme).

DJ: By theme, you mean…?

Uru: Like, anger for example.

DJ: Ohohoh~

Uru: Yes.

DJ: I see. And the single this time’s already become well known through your lives, right?

Ruki: That’s right.

DJ: I mean, rioting with the fans like this even before its release is…

Ruki: This is… I mean… It’s the 12^th… eh, wait, what date is it today?

DJ: Today is the 14^th.

Ruki: The 14^th. It kinda feels like now?

Uru: Yeah

Ruki: like it still hasn’t been released?

DJ: When did you complete the song?

Ruki: We completed recording the song quite some time ago.

Uru: It was around August I think.

Ruki: Yea.

DJ: During the Fujikyu live?

Uru: We preformed it for the first time at Fujiku.

DJ: At the time, the recording was…

Uru: More or less…

Ruki: Mostly done, yeah.

DJ: I see. So you’ve mostly put it aside already?

Ruki: Put it as-… mmm, I guess.

DJ: At the live?

Ruki: Rather than putting it aside, it’s more like… The image was more like working steadily at it…

DJ: It’s like, you finished it fast, but then it ate up more time as you approached its release?

Ruki: What is it…

Uru: (laughs)

Ruki: For LEECH, I think that we had to do a lot more different things?

DJ: Things you had to do? Like?

Ruki: Like filming the PV, taking pictures and such. There’s lots to do.

DJ: Yes, yes.

Ruki: And filming the CM, those kinds of things, right? I felt that this one project took a really long time.

DJ: From all your singles, this rate of this one is one of the longest?

Ruki: The rate was long, yeah.

Uru: Considering each and every thing we had to do.

DJ: The second song this time has mostly English lyrics.

Ruki: Yes.

DJ: So here’s a question from Ruka-san: I always think that the GazettE’s songs have a miraculous harmony intertwined with English songs with that kind of band sound, have (you guys) studied or learnt English at all?

Ruki: Uh. Well, not so much studied, as rather I’m using (translation) software, but I suppose looking at that counts as studying. Like pronunciation and stuff. It’s indeed difficult.

DJ: It really feels like you found some really good words to use here though.

Ruki: Words that are just right (for it). I do write it at first in Japanese, and then correct it (from there)…

DJ: I see.

Ruki: When I write in Japanese, it’d always get stuck – this time it got stuck in English though.

DJ: Stuck in…?

Ruki: Stuck in the free-will boundaries. (TN: Uh, yeah… I dunno)

DJ: Oh~~ I see.

Ruki: There are those type of words … like ‘you can’t use that’.

DJ: They have that in English too? In Japan?

Ruki: This one time we got stuck in that… and they told me to show ‘em a Japanese translation.

DJ: I see~~~

Ruki: So in the Japanese translation I wrote it properly and sent that in~

Uru: (laughs)

DJ: (laughs) Petty little problems~

Ruki: I sent it in like, ‘They’re no problems here’ (grins innocently) and after that, surprisingly, the recording company actually did do it, helping us with the ‘deception’.

DJ: And then there’s also the Parental Advisory mark here.

Ruki: Yes, that’s right.

DJ: Did you guys put that mark on it yourselves?

Ruki: There is that… yea, probably. But we do have (singles/albums) that don’t have it as well.

DJ: Uh-huh.

Ruki: In these kinds of… whachamacallzits… (laughs) We will put ‘em on these types that would get ‘stuck’.

DJ: For these lyrics and songs that have a strong offensive language, you’ll put that type of mark on it. That little square just there, right? Although this single also has that mark on it this time. Well, let’s focus on that second track now, have a listen to the song with English lyrics. So please, introduce the song.
